Why Human Work Matters More in the Age of AI

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how Artificial Intelligence has become capable of almost anything. It creates images and videos, draws, models, codes, builds websites, and optimizes systems. But what is this capability costing us as humans?

Because of this overwhelming efficiency, I increasingly feel that the value of human labor is beginning to diminish. Looking at online spaces, it feels as though "anyone can do it" now with the help of AI. Where we used to marvel at unique creations online, today the narrative has shifted. The most common responses have turned into cold dismissals: "AI can do much better," or a skeptical "It must be AI." Even if someone pours countless hours of hard work into a project, people often seem indifferent. With the rise of AI, it feels like society has forgotten how to appreciate the effort of others.

Yet, it is absolutely vital to recognize that just because something can be generated by AI, human labor, artistic creation, and the dedicated time spent working with our own hands still carry immense worth. The issue is that with the dawn of AI, creativity itself seems to have shrunk, or at least it has been given far less room to breathe. Consequently, jobs and positions are put at risk. This is not necessarily because AI is actively "stealing" our livelihoods, but because we ourselves have yielded so much ground to it that we have begun to devalue our own capabilities.

Ultimately, the greatest difference lies in the fact that what a human creates with their own hands, their own thoughts, and their own struggles contains infinitely more depth than a quickly generated AI prompt or image. The time, the invested energy, and the very journey of bringing something to fruition are values in themselves. And that is something we must never forget.
